Each year, Desert Botanical Garden puts together a special fundraising event, Fund the Farm Celebration, to help support Spaces of Opportunity, a community farm in South Phoenix.
Over the years, these funds have helped Spaces of Opportunity expand, update certain features and provided additional support to the community and surrounding area.
In 2024, Spaces of Opportunity continued its mission of transforming a food desert into a thriving food oasis. With the support of dedicated community members, volunteers and donors, the farm has made a significant impact that brings fresh, local produce to the community. Check out some of those figures from last year.
- 2,545 attendees at its vibrant Farmers Markets
- 15 community events hosted
- 204+ volunteer hours with Tiger Mountain Foundation, with potential for even more contributions
- 892 students and 1,511 community members reached through educational afterschool programs, pop-ups and workshops
- 620 free CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) boxes distributed over 16 sessions, totaling $20,963.66 in fresh produce for families in need
One of the best ways to support Spaces of Opportunity is by attending the Fund the Farm Celebration, a lively event dedicated to growing this important initiative. Enjoy an evening of delicious local bites and drinks from some of the Valley’s top caterers, live music by Arizona Blacktop and other talented performers, and a chance to explore the beautiful Garden’s trails and exhibits, including LIGHT BLOOM – The Art of HYBYCOZO, Orchid Fever and Toward 2050.
