SCHOOL VISITS

Discover the beauty of the desert with a self-guided field trip. Teachers and their students will embark on a journey to experience unique plants and Sonoran Desert, while connecting with nature and outdoor exploration.

Every visit includes an orientation, access to Garden trails and learning resources. 

Schedule

  • Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Depending on Garden Availability
  • Reservations must be made two weeks in advance
  • For groups of 15-100 students. Groups over 100 participants must stagger entry times or days.
  • Add on experiences available seasonally

Pricing & Admission

  • $12 per student
  • Teachers and chaperones complimentary within ratio (One chaperone per five elementary students, one per 10 middle and high school students). Additional chaperones may require additional fees.
  • Funding available for Title I schools
  • Desert Botanical Garden is a cashless organization. Payment must be received three days before your visit. Your field trip may be paid via credit card, PO or check.
  • Garden Memberships are not applicable for field trip admission.

* Only service dogs or miniature horses are allowed. If you would like to bring your dog to the Garden, please visit Dog Days in the Garden.

Add on experiences are available seasonally and on a limited basis. Please indicate on your request form if interested in adding one to your visit

Lunch & Food

Outside food and drink besides water are not allowed in the Garden and there is not a space on-site for lunch. We recommend Papago Park for lunch before or after your visit, and using time on the bus for snacks.

Parking & Arrival

  • Bus parking and unloading zones are available on the Field Trip Map.
  • Upon arrival, an education team member will meet your group to orient you to the Garden.

Open early and late, visit 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. Trails, Gertrude's by Tarbell's and Garden Shop closed 1-5 p.m. for peak heat.
