As the Garden looks toward 2040 and its second century, that same principle remains at the heart of the fifth North Star of the Garden’s 2040 Compass: Secure Operational Capacity & Financial Sustainability.
Our goal is to build the strength, resources and the resilience the Garden needs to accomplish its mission for generations to come.
For nearly 90 years, the Garden has grown through the generosity and commitment of our community. Today, the Garden is a place where people come together to experience the beauty of desert plants, learn from the desert and discover new possibilities for living well in an increasingly hot and dry world.
North Star 5 recognizes that achieving the Garden’s 2040 vision requires a strong and sustainable foundation. That means developing the financial resources, operational capabilities and organizational strength necessary to support everything else we aspire to accomplish.
Over the coming years, the Garden will continue to strengthen the resources that allow us to invest in our people, our collections, our landscapes, our research, our visitor experiences and our community.
That means thinking beyond any single source of revenue and building a balanced, long-term financial model that can withstand changing economic conditions while supporting the Garden’s mission.
North Star 5 is our commitment to building that foundation and ensuring that the Garden can continue to bring people together to protect and celebrate the unique wonders of the desert for generations to come.
