Spiked Prickly Pear Lemonade Recipe | Desert Botanical Garden

Celebrate National Cactus Day with a refreshing drink courtesy of the Garden’s beverage department. Prickly pear fruit is edible and comes from cactus in the genus Opuntia. Try this delicious recipe for your summer gatherings or for a day by the pool.  

  • 1.5 oz vodka (or your favorite clear spirit) 
  • 0.5 oz prickly pear syrup 
  • 3 oz lemonade 
  • Lemon wheel for garnish 

Combine all ingredient in a glass, top with ice and stir to combine. Garnish with a lemon wheel. This recipe can be easily personalized and you can replace the vodka with any clear spirit like blanco tequila or gin, depending on your preference! You could even top with some club soda, or add a mint sprig for something refreshing on a hot desert day.
