Desert Botanical Garden Anniversary | Desert Botanical Garden

OPEN DAILY 8 A.M.|7 A.M. FOR MEMBERS WED. & SUN.

On Feb. 12, the Garden will celebrate its 83rd anniversary. Since 1939, a small group of local residents saw the need to conserve the desert environment. Botanist Gustaf Starck was one of them and found like-minded residents by posting a sign that read “Save the Desert.” With the support of social influencers of the time like Gertrude Divine Webster, the Garden’s presence grew. Now, more than eight decades later, thanks to leadership and investments from individuals and sponsors, Desert Botanical Garden has flourished from a dream into a living museum.
