That’s why the first North Star of Desert Botanical Garden’s strategic plan, the 2040 Compass, focuses on transforming desert research into real-world impact.
For decades, the Garden has studied and protected desert plants uniquely adapted to survive extreme conditions. Today, that work continues through research and partnerships exploring topics like heat resilience, drought-adapted plants, pollinator conservation and sustainable desert landscapes.
By expanding research, strengthening partnerships and increasing community participation, the Garden aims to help develop scalable solutions that support healthier, more resilient desert communities.
This work is about more than science. It’s about helping people better understand, live within and care for the desert environment we all share.
As the Garden approaches its second century, we believe the desert is more than a landscape to admire and it’s a source of innovation and inspiration for the future.
Stay tuned as we continue sharing the five North Stars guiding the Garden toward 2040.
