Living Holiday Displays Coming to the Garden | Desert Botanical Garden

OPEN DAILY 8 A.M.|7 A.M. FOR MEMBERS WED. & SUN.

Each season the Exhibits Department reimagines the design of the holiday décor that is on display throughout the Garden. This year, the décor is heavily influenced by the spectacular art exhibition LIGHT BLOOM – The Art of HYBYCOZO.

LIGHT BLOOM is comprised of 33 geometric sculptures that glow in golds, purples, pinks and oranges —the colors of the desert sunset. They are detailed with intricate patterns that throw out dazzling skirts of light and shadow. This year’s décor theme picks up on these geometric details and elements of nature with lush floral accents and vibrant colored ornaments.

The real highlight of the decor design are the living plant displays comprised of thousands of live plants. There will be three living tress with more than 5,000 plants, two 11-foot-tall living pillars and one monumental living wreath. The Garden will also feature 24 decorated wreaths and 600 feet of festive garlands. This year’s event required eight months of meticulous planning and 170 hours of careful installation by the Exhibits teamThe plant palette includes species such as Mangaves, Echeverias, Euphorbias, Aloes, native grasses, herbs and festive red poinsettias. These icons grace the trails during Las Noches de Las Luminarias, creating a botanical holiday experience unique to the Garden.

Check out the Garden’s holiday décor on display starting Nov. 29 through Dec. 30 during the daytime or at Las Noches de las Luminarias.
