GRATITUDE JOURNEY | A THANK YOU TO NATURE
The natural world is all around us, in our backyards, local parks and at Desert Botanical Garden. During the holiday season, explore a new way to create safe and enjoyable memories.
Take your family and friends on a gratitude journey in nature. Head to the Garden or your favorite hiking trail with the intention to feel grateful for nature’s beauty.
As you walk, find a tree or plant (that will not poke you) to sit next to or even hug. Find a safe place to settle in and relax. Take a minute to sit and observe the world around you. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell?
After you have settled in and immersed your senses with your natural surroundings, begin to reflect on what you are thankful for in nature and in your life. This could be expressed as a list, poem, song or picture. Continue your exploration process further along the trail. Notice all of the tiny details you may normally overlook as you ‘slow down’ and use all of your senses.
There are so many ways we can be grateful for our natural world. Spending time outdoors with our family and friends, getting involved with local community projects and helping to remove invasive plants are just a few ways to say thank you to nature.
