Take learning into your own hands and enjoy specialized one-time classes located at the Desert Botanical Garden. Get inspired and learn new skills through one of our programs in landscape and gardening, photography, cooking and wellness. Experience, explore and discover hands-on and instructional workshops that invigorate your passions for the environment, food, wellness and more!

Learn basic principles and techniques of photography or build upon skills to master new techniques. Many of the classes are supported with hands-on sessions held at the Garden or at various Arizona destinations. For all skill levels.

landscape and gardening

Whether you are new to gardening or want to increase your knowledge, these classes give you the necessary skills to become a successful low-desert gardener. Learn more about vegetable gardening, desert plants, container gardening, sustainable practices and landscape design.

Cooking and wellness

Join the Garden’s demonstration classes to explore new cuisines, cooking techniques or how to sharpen your culinary skills. From beginner Cooking 101 classes to baking and international cuisine, experience a truly unique culinary class with family and friends. The Garden also offers wellness programs including sound meditation, yoga and more held in the Garden. Classes are small and suitable for all skill levels.

What safety protocols are in place?

Maximum guest capacity of 12 people for indoor spaces and 10-20 for outdoor classes. Participants who are not in the same party are encouraged to maintain social distancing. Garden safety precautions will be observed in all class locations whether on-site or off-site. If you are feeling ill, please stay home and reach out to the Adult Education Manager for a refund or to transfer to another class at a later time.

What is the cancelation policy?

Desert Botanical Garden reserves the right to cancel programs at its discretion. Programs will    run as scheduled, regardless of weather, unless participants are contacted directly by Garden staff either by phone or email. We reserve the right to substitute any instructors in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

What is the refund policy?

To receive a refund, you must send a written request at least 14 days before the scheduled  date of your class or program. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. Please send your written request to dfajardo@dbg.org.

The class I want to attend is sold out. Is there a wait list I can be added to?

Yes, when you attempt to register for a class that is sold out an option to be added to a wait list is provided. If a participant cancels, a Garden staff member will reach out to the provided phone number to add you to theregistration list. Payment will be collected before you attend the class.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept most credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express). For your protection, we donot store your credit card number after the transaction is complete. Please do  not close your browser until you have reached our Confirmation page and can print your ticket(s).

I just registered for an off-site class, will I receive more information on the class location and directions?

You will receive a confirmation email that will contain your class ticket(s) and an attached class itinerary. The itinerary includes a map and other necessary information to prepare for the class. Transportation to class locationis not provided.

What do I need to bring with me to the class?

Please present your ticket on your phone or printed ticket sent in a confirmation email after registering. If any materials or supplies are required, you will receive that information in a follow  up email 3-5 days before the class.

What ages can participate in Adult Education offerings?

Children under 10 may not attend. Children ages 10-14 may attend adult education programs with an adult andboth are required to pay class registration fees. Those of ages 15 and older may attend without an adult.

Is general admission included with class registration?

Class registration does not include general admission and must be purchased separately.

Are participants allowed to eat or drink inside classrooms?

Participants are allowed to bring water bottles. No outside food will be allowed in indoor spaces. For cooking classes, all food supplies will be provided by the Garden unless otherwise  indicated.


The Garden will be closed to the public July 4-11. We look forward to seeing you again on July 12.
