More than 400 community leaders, philanthropists and Garden friends attended the Garden’s 6th annual Fund the Farm fundraiser for Spaces of Opportunity.
The proceeds, which exceeded donation and attendance expectations, will help support farmers who care for and tend the land at Spaces of Opportunity.
Spaces is a collaboration of Desert Botanical Garden, Tiger Mountain Foundation, Unlimited Potential, Orchard Community Learning Center and Roosevelt Elementary School District to transform 19 acres of land into a thriving community green space, housing incubator farms, community farming plots, healing gardens, farmers market and more. Event co-chairs Joette Schmidt and Salvador A. Bretts shared “Our guests’ and donors’ generosity exceeded our expectations with this year’s Fund the Farm. The evening’s impact on our community will be felt at many levels and has inspired us to do even more next year. We look forward to another fun, casual evening with results that make everyone “smile out loud!”
The fundraiser featured food trucks from Boca, Mingo’s and BJ’s and sweet treats from Paletas Betty and Spun Paradise cotton candy.
