“Sonoran Desert’s Got Magic!”, a new children’s book published by Desert Botanical Garden by authors Pam Holt and Martha Hunter Henderson and illustrated by Michael Hale was written and published in honor of Desert Botanical Garden’s 85th anniversary. It’s a charming tale to inspire children to enjoy the beauty of the desert and care about it. At this event, Pam and Martha will share their adventures of working together for more than 30 years–which led to their co-authoring this book. They will also provide insights about the process of writing children’s books for those who have their own stories to tell.

About the Authors:

Pam Holt and Martha Hunter Henderson started Strategies, a strategic communications firm, in 1990. They are long-time friends and supporters of Desert Botanical Garden. In 2014, they published a Field Guide by one of the Garden’s co-founders, Gustaf Starck, imagining the observations he made and inspirations he collected while hiking in the Sonoran Desert and tending his own collection of cactus plants.

Pam is a noted children’s author whose debut publication, “The Story of Camelback Mountain”, was co-authored with her granddaughter Estelle Cohen.

Martha is a Trustee Emerita of the Desert Botanical Garden and a former chair of the Garden’s Board of Trustees.
