Fernando Botero: El Maestro

Discover the captivating world of Fernando Botero’s artistry, where vibrant colors and voluptuous figures unite in perfect harmony at the Garden.

 On the trails, experience two monumental cast bronze sculptures — Dressed Woman and Reclining Woman — that showcase Botero’s unique and recognizable style known as “Boterismo.” The exhibition extends inside Dorrance Hall with an expanded gallery space that features 15 paintings and drawings, two small sculptures and a documentary on Botero’s life and work.

The exhibition is a collaboration with Long Beach, California-based Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) that is dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American and Latin art.

 Colombian artist Fernando Botero (1932-2023) was a pioneer of figurative art  who established himself as one of the most globally recognized artists of our time. With his distinctive style and mastery of form, Botero’s influence extends far beyond Latin America. His works enrich prominent locations worldwide, including the illustrious Park Avenue in New York City and the iconic Champs-Élysées in Paris.

 Botero’s spectacular artwork can be found in more than 200 museums worldwide and garden exhibitions of his work have been mounted at the New York Botanical Garden, Atlanta Botanical Garden, Missouri Botanical Garden, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Gardens by the Bay, Singapore.

The exhibition is a collaboration with the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Long Beach, California which is dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American and Latin art. 

Only service dogs will be allowed inside the Fernando Botero: The Master exhibit in Dorrance Hall.

Cactus Clubhouse is a fun and immersive nature play space for kids 12 and younger. Kids can engage in activities that spark their curiosity for nature and encourage exploration.
