PERSONAL STATEMENT:
I came to Desert Botanical Garden in late 2001 to relocate and manage the Garden’s specialized library of botanical research materials. The Schilling Library is home to more than 7,500 books and 350 journal titles focused on arid regions of the world with a particular emphasis on the plants, ecology, and natural history of our own Sonoran Desert. A native Phoenician, my interest in preservation led to the development of the Garden’s History Archive, a collection of photos and papers documenting the Garden’s beginnings and the important events that have taken place over time. In 2010 our library catalog became available for online searching and my volunteers and I are working to make other unique materials accessible electronically. I am a member of the editorial team for the Garden’s Sonoran Quarterly publication.
