August 16, 2022Culture, art and new experiences will fill Desert Botanical Garden’s trails in the fall! The Garden’s fall programming is inspired by the beauty and rich cultures of the Americas. Enjoy music and dance performers from North and South America, elevate your visit with a dynamic art exhibit, experience new gastronomical flavors and learn how various cultures use desert plants in everyday life and traditional customs. Tickets to most events go on sale Aug. 12 or otherwise noted at dbg.org.

Playing with Stars: Rotraut at Desert Botanical Garden
Oct. 7- May 14, 2023 | Included with membership or Garden admission
The bold and lyrical large-scale sculptures of Rotraut will enliven the Garden trails while a selection of her paintings and small sculpture fill the Ottosen Gallery. Known around the world, and based in Arizona, Rotraut’s artwork explores the energy of the seasons and the relationship of nature with the sky, sun and universe.
Majestic Mariposas

Families can get an up-close and unforgettable experience when Monarchs and other native Southwestern butterflies return for our Fall Butterfly Exhibit. Get acquainted with thousands of butterflies, observe each stage of their life cycle, and learn what actions we can take to protect them.

Dog Days at the Garden

Bring your furry friend to Dog Days at the Garden for the “ultimutt” nature experience. Explore the beauty of the Sonoran Desert and stroll the Garden’s five thematic trails Saturday mornings.
Guelaguetza
Oct. 1 – 2 | 12 – 6 p.m. | Included with membership or Garden admission
Enjoy the colorful celebration of Guelagetza at the Garden. Guelaguetza is an annual indigenous cultural event in Mexico that takes place in the city of Oaxaca. Immerse yourself in art, music, dance and enjoy the flavors of Oaxaca’s eight regions. Join a colorful Oaxacan Calenda (parade), try some spicy and sweet mole, visit the mercado and don’t forget to sample some mezcal.

Fall never sounded so good. Join us for a diverse lineup of concerts with musicians hailing from North America, Central America and South America at Music in the Garden. This series in the iconic Desert Botanical Garden is set against a spectacular natural backdrop under a starlit sky. The event is only for guests 21+ except for Sept. 30, which is an all ages show.

Fall Plant Sale

Fall in love with an extensive selection of desert plants, including cactus, agaves, succulents, trees and shrubs, at the Fall Plant Sale. Garden horticulturalists will provide advice and help you select the best plants for your home garden or ones suitable for indoors.
Strange Garden
Oct. 21-22 | 5:30-9 p.m. | Included with Garden admission or membership
Trick or treat yourself to a spook-tacular Strange Garden. Experience jaw dropping performances, encounter mad botanists, peculiar plants and creepy-crawlies of the desert. Stop for a photo-op and take home a free pumpkin from our patch!
Día de Muertos

Celebrate the colorful and vibrant Mexican tradition of Día de Muertos at the Garden with new and memorable experiences. The two-day festival will be filled with Mexican music, dance, storytelling y más! Honor a loved one at the Community Altar by artist Rufina Ruiz López. At day’s end, Garden guests are invited to join performers in La Procesión, a procession honoring passed loved ones, through the Garden.
Chiles & Chocolate
Nov. 11 – 13 | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. | Included with Garden admission and membership
Chiles & Chocolate is back and with the perfect recipe for a sweet and spicy weekend. Shop the Valley’s top chile and chocolate vendors for savory treats! Then, treat yourself to gourmet chocolates, flavorful sauces, fresh and fire-roasted chiles, and a variety of homemade goodies.
Viva las Americas
Nov. 19 – 20 | 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.| Included with Garden admission or membership
Viva Las Americas is a new Garden festival that celebrates the rich cultural diversity of North and South American countries. This two-day festival will feature music and dance from a variety of regions of the Americas. Experience hip-hop beats, the sway of bachata music, capoeira and samba. Savor a variety of culinary flavors that celebrates the cultural diversity of North and South American countries.
