DESERT BOTANICAL GARDEN ANNOUNCES 2020 SUMMER EXHIBITIONS AND EVENTS

Phoenix, Feb. 21, 2020 – Desert Botanical Garden family visitors will enjoy exciting events and exhibitions this summer all in the desert beauty they have come to know. This is the last chance to experience current Garden exhibitions before new, upcoming events and exhibits come to the Garden this summer.

Wild Rising by Cracking Art
Ends May 10
The Garden’s newest exhibition, Wild Rising by Cracking Art, is traveling straight from Milan, with more than 1,000 animal sculptures made from colorful and recyclable plastic. Visitors of all ages will be drawn to engage with these vibrant creatures and to discover that plastic does not have to end up in landfills, but it can be reinvented into something eye-catching and thought-provoking.

Elephant in the Room
Ends May 10
Visitors are invited to participate in the conversation of Wild Rising by Cracking Art with Elephant in the Room in Ottosen Gallery. Take the opportunity to dig into rotating worldly topics, and commit to a positive change that can impact mankind’s global footprint.

Spring Butterfly Exhibit
Ends May 10
Experience a diverse kaleidoscope of butterflies from the Southwest, and discover the magnificence of the mighty monarch butterfly—from their amazing migration to the plants they need to survive.

Cactus Clubhouse
March – May (8 a.m. – 1 p.m.)
June – Sept. (8 a.m. – noon)
The newest nature play space provides unstructured, child-led activities for kids up to 12 to discover the fun of the natural world by climbing, creating and building. Kids will encounter several stations and activities designed to spark independent play, while encouraging physical, cognitive and behavioral growth.

Music in the Garden
Through May 29 | Doors open at 6:30 p.m. | Concerts 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Members: $24.95 | General Public: $29.95. Attendees must be 21 or older.
The Garden presents a spectacular lineup of local and regional talent at the Music in the Garden Spring Concert Series. Ullman Terrace provides an unmatchable backdrop of mature saguaros and other desert plants for this well-loved event. Food and drink are available for purchase.

Think + Drink

May 6 | 7 – 9:30 p.m.
Members: $25 | General Public: $35
Inspired by Wild Rising by Cracking Art, listen to talks and discussions from experts, scholars and industry professionals, as they share their insight about topical issues. Afterward, mingle with friends over drinks and yard games, with music spun by DJ Davina. Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. will be on-site each night sampling their seasonal favorites.

Mother’s Day / Diá de la Madre
May 10 | 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Celebrate with free admission for mom with a paid child at the Garden. Enjoy the last day of the Butterfly exhibit and Wild Rising by Cracking Art. Enjoy family-friendly pop-up experiences including art, music, wellness and more.

Fund the Farm
May 14 | 7 – 9 p.m.
Adults: $100 | Children under 12: $25 upon request

Fund the Farm is a festive party with a purpose, featuring a hosted bar, tequila tastings, field fresh hors d’oeuvres and lively music staged in Desert Botanical Garden’s beautiful outdoor setting. Ticket sales and sponsorships benefit Spaces of Opportunity and will help complete funding to construct a cool storage unit. Participation and support provides affordable access to healthy food, active living and promotes the vibrant agricultural roots of south Phoenix families.

Ballet Arizona presents The Four Seasons – A World Premiere
May 19 – 23, 26 – 30, June 2 – 6 | Doors open at 6:30 p.m. | 8 – 9:30 p.m.

A world premiere by Artistic Director Ib Andersen – Ballet Arizona’s The Four Seasons performances is sure to be another masterpiece like Eroica and Topia. Surrounded by the lush desert landscape with the setting sun as a backdrop, Ib Andersen’s vision for dance in the desert continues in 2020 with The Four Seasons. Expect the unexpected as Ballet Arizona evolves, takes chances and challenges your emotional boundaries in the desert that we call our home.

Flashlight Tours
May 23 – Sept. 5, every Saturday | 7 – 9:30 p.m.
Adults: $14.95 | Kids: $9.95
Summer nights shine with Flashlight Tours. All ages will have a blast getting hands-on during this self-guided nocturnal adventure through the Garden. Check out the night blooming plants, animals that come out after-dark plus grab some food and drink and chill out. Please bring your own Flashlight for this self-guided tour.

Father’s Day
June 21 | 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Calling all dads, come enjoy a day in the Garden for free with a paid child admission.
