Tancer Distinguished Speaker Series at Desert Botanical Garden
Founder and chair of 80 Cities and the first Ambassador for World Urban Parks, Guillermo “Gil” Penalosa comes to the Garden to deliver his innovative vision to create vibrant cities and healthy communities for all.
Hear Penalosa explore themes of sustainable mobility, urban parks, accessible public spaces, thriving bike-ways and more. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, where he led the design and development of more than 200 parks, Penalosa holds an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, which recently ranked him as one of the “100 Most Inspirational Alumni” in the school’s history. He has also received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Urban Planning at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
Last year, Penalosa was listed in Planetizen’s Top 100 Most Influential Urbanists. To date, Penalosa’s cosmopolitan experience, pragmatism and passion have led to speaking engagements in more than 350 cities worldwide. The Garden is grateful to Shoshana and Robert Tancer for making this series possible.
