ScanLAB Projects is an artist-led studio exploring the world through machine vision technologies – founded in 2010 by Matt Shaw (b 1983) and William Trossell (b 1985). Pioneering the artistry of 3D scanning, their work has explored former concentration camps, melting arctic ice, the formation of memory and the motion of dancers to create dynamic artworks and fact-based datasets utilized for scientific papers, climate activism and journalism. In an era of generative AI, computer graphics and synthetic realities, ScanLAB embraces their commitment to investigation, precision, equity, sustainability and truth.

“FRAMERATE is a glimpse into the future of cinema, a sobering observation, and a hopeful moment - all at once.”
- Matthew Shaw, Co-Founder of ScanLAB
