Community Day: Pay What you Can Day

Your Garden, Your Way! We believe nature should be accessible to everyone. On Community Day pay what you can. Pay $5, $10, $15 or any amount that works for you.

In return, your contribution nurtures the Garden’s research, conservation and protection of desert plants for generations to come.

Join us each month:

Feb. 10: Hidden Discoveries
Activities 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Join us for a day of discovery and explore the hidden stories within ourselves and the community. Through hands-on art, storytelling and creative research, uncover what often goes unseen. Enjoy activities with Tempe Public Library and try your hand at leaf rubbing and visit their mobile Library and stop by AZ(LAND)’s booth to learn about hidden pollinator patterns through UV pollinator reflections and painting activities. Visit Phoenix Zoo’s station to see one of their scorpions, plus catch a Storytime and contribute to a community quilt with Childsplay. Play trivia at RE:Frame’s station for the chance to win seeds from their seed library. Come dive deeper into the environment and connect in new ways.

March 10: Desert Blooms & Pollinators
Activities 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Celebrate the beauty of desert flowers and the pollinators that help them thrive! This month’s theme explores what blooms in the desert and why pollinators, especially butterflies and bees, are essential to our ecosystem. Learn how pollination works, why it matters and some simple ways you can support pollinators in your community. In partnership with AZ(LAND), learn about the City Nature challenge, an international citizen science event that invites you to take pictures documenting local biodiversity in a competition between cities.

April 14: Photography for Conservation
Activities 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Explore photography as a tool for conservation and citizen science. Learn how to use photography to tell stories, document nature and support scientific research while capturing compelling images. In partnership with AZ(LAND), learn about Polaroid and digital nature photography.

May 12: Sustainability
Activities 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Join us as we explore technologies and community-driven actions shaping a more sustainable future in the desert. Learn how local efforts are advancing environmental justice and sustainability with AZ(LAND), and try a hands-on paper-making activity using invasive plant materials.

Cactus Clubhouse open 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 
Cactus Clubhouse is an engaging, hands-on nature play space designed especially for kids 12 and under. Capacity may be limited on Community Day.
