On March 22, Desert Botanical Garden and Spaces of Opportunity hosted Fund the Farm Celebration with more than 500 guests in attendance to raise funds for Spaces of Opportunity. Guests enjoyed local drinks and bites from some of the Valley’s best caterers and enjoyed musical entertainment by Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra. The event helped raised more than $45,000 for Spaces of Opportunity.
Guests financial support will directly fund the farmers, gardeners and growers who care for and tend the land at Spaces. Without their work, Spaces and its numerous programs and events would not be possible. Spaces is a 19-acre community farm that provides sustainable, locally-grown produce and agricultural prospects for the residents of the south Phoenix community and beyond. Spaces of Opportunity is a collaboration of Desert Botanical Garden, TigerMountain Foundation, Unlimited Potential, Orchard Community Learning Center and Roosevelt Elementary School District to provide sustainable, fresh produce and farming opportunities to south Phoenix.
“Fund the Farm Celebration was an incredible evening of entertainment, drinks, interactive programming and a progressive meal through Desert Botanical Garden. While having fun, we were also able to highlight the critical and life-changing work happening at Spaces of Opportunity. Throughout the evening, guests learned about the farmers and their important work at Spaces. We were treated to fresh produce as we exited the event, and guests raised funds to continue advancing the collaborative and mission-driven work being done at Spaces and supported by the Garden,” said chair Jenny Holsman Tetreault.
The event was sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and BHHS Legacy Foundation.
