Personal Statement
I began my time at the Garden as a volunteer during high school and later joined the Dryland Plant Ecophysiology Laboratory to conduct my undergraduate and master’s research. Currently, I am a research assistant in the Desert Conservation Laboratory working with rare and endangered plant species native to Arizona and the Southwest. I assist with growing and refining our micropropagation protocols and tissue culture initiatives, saguaro restoration efforts in the Tonto National Forest, and preserving the Garden’s seed bank and rare plant collection. I have a research background in plant ecology and laboratory techniques, and my main area of interest is propagation of rare plants for conservation and reintroduction.
