New Paper Published by Jessica Guo and Susan Bush. | Desert Botanical Garden

OPEN DAILY 8 A.M.|7 A.M. FOR MEMBERS WED. & SUN.

Lab members, Jessica Guo and Susan Bush recently published a paper in Functional Ecology titled “Temporal variation in stomatal sensitivity to vapor pressure deficit in western riparian forests”.

The paper shows that non-native species in western riparian forests have decreasing stomatal sensitivity to a drying atmosphere over the growing season, in contrast to Native species that have increased sensitivity to a drying atmosphere.

Implications are that in the increasingly arid western United States, the progressively less sensitive stomatal behavior of invasive tree taxa may hasten their dominance in riparian forests.

A reprint of the paper can be found here.

The Garden will be closed to the public July 4-11. We look forward to seeing you again on July 12.

ADVANCE TICKET RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR MEMBERS & GENERAL ADMISSION.
