Description
Size need not limit the beauty or usefulness of a garden. Creative planning, careful selection and installation of hardscape and plants, and proper maintenance can turn a small garden into an enjoyable and attractive outdoor living area. Usefulness for entertaining, eating and sitting is a primary concern. Hard surfaces such as patios, decks, gazebos and walks should be designed to accommodate the number of users but not overwhelm the space. Landscape architect Tom Stephens will show you how to develop a conceptual design for your small outdoor space that will be useful, beautiful, easy to maintain and cost efficient. Stephens has taught landscape design, installation and maintenance courses at more than 25 different institutions since 1968. He co-authored the book, Xeriscape Gardening-Water Conservation for the American Landscape.
