High School and College Programs
The following options are available to high school and college students.

Self-Guided Group Visits
Teachers guide their group around the Garden.  This option is available on weekdays after 12:30 p.m. or on weekends during regular hours of operation.  Self-guided visits are $5 per person, with an extra fee of $2 per person for visits to the Butterfly Pavilion.  There is an additional fee of $2 during special events which include the Chihuly Exhibition - November 22, 2008 - May 31, 2009.  Self-guided visits must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance.  To book a visit, please complete the online request form by following the link on the left side of your screen to Request a Field Trip.  When you arrive for your visit, have one person collect the money for the whole group and go to the admissions booth.

Independent Study Visits
Often teachers assign a semester-long, independent project to their students related to a visit to the Garden.  Students visit the Garden on their own during a specified time period.  Teachers submit a roster of students to the Garden and the Garden tracks the students that visit the Garden.  Independent Study visits must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance.  To book a visit, please complete the online request form by following the link on the left side of your screen to Register Your Group AND email your complete alphabetized student roster to TeacherRSVP@dbg.org or fax to 480-481-8189.  Students will not be admitted without a received roster.

Independent Study visits are $3 per person due on arrival, with an extra fee of $2 per person for visits to the Butterfly Pavilion.  Guests accompanying student pay the regular admission fees.

Fee Adjustment- Independent studies assigned during the Chihuly Exhibition (November 22, 2008 - May 30 2009) will experience an admissions increase to $5 per person. Admission to the Garden will have to be reserved due to timed entries. Students can make reservations by calling the Garden Call Centre. Refunds are not available if a student misses their timed entry. When students make a reservation please have course name, number and instructor’s name. Additional guests will not be admitted with the $5 fee. They will need to make a reservation at regular admission price.

Guided Visits
Groups of at least ten students may select to take advantage of the guided tours developed for school field trips.  Three of the tours are suggested for students in high school.  Guided tours start at 9 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., and 10:30 a.m. on weekdays from October 6 – May 15.  Guided visits are $5 per person, with an extra fee of $2 per person for visits to the Butterfly Pavilion.  For more information, follow the Tour Summaries link on the left side of the screen.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q:  What resources are available to enhance the Garden visit?
A:  Garden maps are available from admissions.  There are also trail guides available for purchase.

Q:  Are any exhibits or trails currently closed?
A:  Not at this time.  Many of the Garden's trails and exhibits have been renovated over the last year.  You may want to edit or clarify your student material; we encounter many Independent Study students asking for specific plants and exhibits that are no longer available.

Q:  How is payment made for Self-Guided Group Visits and Independent Study Visits?
A:  Self-guided group visit and independent study visit payments are made at Admissions upon arrival at the Garden.  Group visit payments should be made as one lump sum, whereas independent study students pay individually on the day they visit the Garden.
