Chihuly in the Garden

Discovery and surprise await you on the Garden trails. Artist Dale Chihuly returns to the Desert Botanical Garden this fall with a stunning exhibition of his extraordinary and vibrant works of art. Chihuly is credited with revolutionizing the Studio Glass movement and elevating the perception of the glass medium from craft to fine art. He is renowned for his ambitious architectural installations around the world, in historic cities, museums and gardens. Chihuly’s work is included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass. Major exhibitions include Chihuly Over Venice (1995-96), Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem (1999), Garden Cycle (2001– present),and displays at the de Young Museum in San Francisco (2008), the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (2011) and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond (2012). Attending the Exhibit

Three time periods per day: 8 a.m. - Noon / 12 - 4 p.m. / 4 - 8 p.m.

Audio Tours

The Chihuly in the Garden Acoustiguide Audio Tour introduces a number of installations and artworks throughout the Garden and is available from November 10, 2013 – May 18, 2014.

Chihuly After Dark

8 p.m. - midnight | May 16 and 17

This spring we are offering special Saturday late night time periods with a live DJ, entertainment and a cash bar.  Reservations and tickets are available through ticketing (see above). Gertrude's will be open during the extended hours and be offering a special "small bites" menu.

  • May 17: DJ Kyle & Fluff It Up Cotton Candy

  • The artists permits and encourages photography of the artwork in this exhibition for educational and non-commercial uses only.
  • Advance reservations are highly recommended to help ensure availability of your desired date, time period and parking spot.
  • Limited walk-up tickets may be available.
  • If a time period is sold out and you do not have a reservation or ticket you may not be able to enter the Garden.
  • Reservations can only be made by phone or the website. Reservations cannot be made via email.
